What We Do
We embrace learning opportunities that take place outside of school.
Did you know that according to a study by The Education Trust, 2 in 5 Latino and Black high school students report an interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering & mathematics) courses, and plan to go to college? Yet less than 3% enroll in AP STEM courses. AP STEM courses increase college preparation for students. So why are minority students not enrolling in AP STEM courses?
We believe that the unequal distribution of funds in our public education system leads to too many minority students not receiving a quality education in the elementary grades. They reach high school unprepared and insecure. Results from The National Assessment for Educational Progress (NAEP) consistently show that by 4th grade, minority students lag significantly in basic mathematics and reading skills.
We want to change this with a monthly STEM subscription box sent to their homes, inviting their families to get involved. The program is affordable and convenient. Qualifying families may enroll in the program at no cost. Every month, we deliver a complete integrated STEM instructional unit that is evidence-based and aligned with science, engineering, and mathematics standards.
Additionally, children become part of a community of learners through our educational videos, synchronous sessions, and app.
We are committed to educational excellence through scientific evidence. To this end, we collect data from our participants through pre- and post-assessments, surveys, and interviews to analyze the impact of our program on student achievement.
